ABOUT

Classic Chassis Car Club was founded in 1984 in Austin, Texas.  Over the years chapters were formed in Dallas, Houston and San Antonio.  Eventually, all four chapters joined Lambda Car Club International.

Lambda Car Club International (LCCI), 501(c)(7), is the largest collector car club for LGBTQ and LGBTQ-friendly automobile enthusiasts in North America.  The purpose of the Lambda Car Club International is the enjoyment and exchange of information on all types of vehicles, combined with social fellowship by LGBTQ+ community  members and those people who support the LGBTQ+ community.

LCCI was founded to provide a club for diverse LGBTQ+ car enthusiasts.  We strive to attract and retain new members from diverse segments of the population, including diversity of ethnicity, age, gender identification, sexual orientation, and varying car interests.  While we will always embrace and honor our traditions and long-term members, we simultaneously welcome all new members with novel ideas who share the love of our people and vehicles.

All vehicles of any age or condition are welcome at club events. Our members run everything from brass era antiques, brand new cars, cutting edge technological marvels, imports and exotics, to huge American land yachts. While some members own fleets of collectible automobiles, still others own one, or even no cars. If you’re into cars, whether it’s an acquisitive obsession or it’s just an interest you enjoy from afar, you are very welcome to participate!

For information on joining our club please visit the  LCCI Member Sign Up page.   Be sure to check out our regional Calendar to find us out and about in San Antonio.

February Meeting Notes
Finances: Current Balance $3370.20
Membership:  Full Members 32 Associate 19 / Total 51
Welcome to visitors Beau and his co-pilot!
Updates to long-standing pursuits:
1.Club Website has been updated and moved to a new location and will soon migrate to the Lambda Car Club / Club Express platform.

Current Event Calendar Planning

  • February: Road trip to Corpus!  Chris and Frank will host a brunch 11am Sat, 25 Feb at their place.  They will be pulling together a list of hotels and fun things to do.  Club members can visit Corpus through the weekend and do whatever they want.  Only scheduled event is the brunch.  This will give everyone a chance to see Chris and Frank’s amazingly decorated home (hint: hubcap ceiling is a MUST SEE!) and enjoy their wonderful brunch (where there will hopefully be homemade fig jam!)
  • March: Wildflower drive to Fredericksburg and Wildseed Farms. Club agreed with this event and suggested adding local wineries to the list of places to visit along the way.  Club needs a volunteer to put this event together.
  • April: Paul Sumrall, our new treasurer and webmaster will organize an event for Saturday, April 29th. Driving tour of hill country back roads ending in Johnson City. Eating at Pecan Street Brewing. Then attending a concert featuring Elvis Presley music played by a Texas band in the Science Mill. Meeting time at Timewise Food Store 2:30, driving time is 2 hoursish/98 miles. Dinner at 5:00, seating for concert 7:00 with concert starting at 7:30.  The club wholeheartedly agreed to happily engage with this fun event.
  • Tom Garza brought a list of upcoming area events to share with the club.

January Meeting Notes
Finances: Current Balance $3270.20
The club voted and agreed to make a donation of $100 to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation in Bubba’s name.
Happy Birthday Marc!  He looks great for 143 years old!
For New Members:
1. Car Club logo and shirts:
- Castle Hills Embroidery Castle Hills Embroidery San Antonio TX - Bing Maps has our logo and will embroider either a shirt purchased in their store or a shirt brought in.
- Car Club Coins:  Coins are available for $10 each.  They are a fun commemoration of our fellowshipping.  See Shayne for purchase.
Updates to long-standing pursuits:
1. Club Meeting Location:  The club decided to change venues quarterly.
- This means the Feb 18th and March 18th meetings will be held at Max and Louie’s New York Diner: 226 W Bitters Rd suite 126, San Antonio, TX 78216.  The club really enjoyed the private room, gluten free options, and excellent food and service for this first meeting at this venue.  Terry is working with the venue to tweak the menu to add more breakfast options.
- The club also decided (typically) meetings would be held separately from events to make sure folks are able to attend meetings if they can’t attend events.
2. Social media: Terry is going to make a Twitter account for us. Shayne has the Instagram p/w and will provide that to Terry to update the club’s Instagram account.
- Will approach Jose regarding running our social media accounts when he’s back in town.
3. Bonham Exchange No Booze Party Bus: Will talk with Jose and Chuck when they get back in town.
4. Resource page: Paul has our temporary website up and running and has added the resources we discussed in December.
- The club discussed the types of resources to highlight and whether to include negative info.   We decided to use only positive info.
- Joseph volunteered to collect information for the resources page about folks offering different car services, with positive recommendations from the group.  He also agreed to find gas stations that offer ethanol-free fuel.  He also discussed putting out “training events” to encourage folks to work on their cars.
5. Club Advertising:  Terry is still working on getting our club’s info out there to various organizations. I’ll check in with people regarding it.
6.  Community Links: Terry asked the club to give him info on any organization we believe is a good fit to link with.  Some ideas include:
-  San Antonio Aids Foundation - San Antonio AIDS Foundation
- Roy Maas Youth Alternatives - Roy Maas Youth Alternatives – Restoring Hope, One Child at a Time (rmya.org)
7.  Santiago is still working the display at the bar, Sparky’s. The club likes the idea of lots of fun pictures.  More to come.

Current Event Calendar Planning

  • January: Event was canceled. Faron left the club this year to take a break from all the organizations he’s working with.

Dinner at 5:00, seating for concert 7:00 with concert starting at 7:30.  The club wholeheartedly agreed to happily engage with this fun event.
  • May: Driving down river road? Leonard will coordinate this.
  • June: Pool party at Marc and Jeff’s house!
  • July: Go Karts
  • August: Maybe Bonham Exchange trip
  • September: Monster Golf
  • October: Still open for discussion. Maybe Paul’s place? Do you want to have a Halloween party?
  • November: Meeting and Thanksgiving potluck at Tom’s house. The club agreed volunteering in soup kitchens feeding homeless or making donations to the cause sounded like good things to look into.  More to come.  Shayne will find more info on the Wings and Wheels show that will be held in Nov and get that out to the group.
  • December: Meeting and Holiday party at Tom’s house. Would like to check into toy drives for LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce.
    Additional Events:
  • Paul says he and his will be happy to host a meeting. They also have a pool. This could be one of the “bless their heart” events. He has a lift; we could put our cars on the lift to see what the underside looks like (leaks, rust, etc). We can also wash and wax our cars. Bring your own protein to throw on the grill for the afternoon meal.  The club thought this was great and really appreciated Paul’s offer.  More to come on specific dates/times.
  • Club members were interested in an indoor flea market trip/event.  Craftiques Mall at 2375 NW Military Hwy, San Antonio, TX 78231 has some fun stuff and offers “high tea” events in the back of the space.  Might be fun to put together if folks are interested.  Carmen enjoyed a high tea there and recommends the idea.
  • Club members were interested in a Round Top Antiquing Trip, usually held 23-28 Oct.  This might be good to coordinate with the Austin club for a group gathering.
  • Club members discussed chartering a bus (paid by folks going) to bus to Golden Girls in Oct.  More to come.
