DelVal Banner Out On the Road

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What are my dues used to pay for?

A. See “Why Join Lambda Car Club and the DelVal Region and pay annual dues?

Q. Will it be difficult to meet people at events as the “new” person?

A. When you attend events as a new member, you will be given a special “new member” name tag.  This makes it easier for our board members and volunteers to identify you, greet you, and introduce you to established members.  In addition, board members and volunteers will be wearing bold, yellow name tags at events so that you can easily find them in case they don’t spot you first.

Q. I live in Eastern PA, NJ, or Northern DE, but I don’t see any upcoming events near where I live.  Will there be any events close to my area?

A.  A completely new Board of Directors was elected on February 28, 2025.  We’re working as quickly as we can to plan events throughout the greater Delaware Valley region, but it does take time to plan quality events.  We’ll add events to the calendar on the Lambda website as soon as they’re confirmed.  Also, please consider events hosted by our neighboring regions: The Straight Eights and Empire Region.  If you have a suggestion for an event near you, please let us know HERE.  We plan to establish an event planning committee sometime in 2025/2026, so if you’re interested in volunteering, keep an eye out for announcements.

Q. I’ve read “Why Join Lambda Car Club and the DelVal Region and pay annual dues?”, but I’m on a tight budget right now and either can’t afford the dues or can’t afford some of your events.  Can I still participate?

A.  Yes!  We will have some casual events that are no cost and open to both members and non-members.  In addition, our Facebook group is open to both dues-paying members as well as non-members who are considering joining.  Members are also able to add non-member guests when they register for our events on the Lambda website (usually at a slightly higher cost).  LCCI is a non-profit and we try to keep the costs for our events as low as possible, leveraging sponsorships and donations when possible, while also maintaining the quality and variety that our members have come to expect.

Q. Isn’t Lambda just for boomers and/or for folks who only appreciate 50’s and 60’s cars?

A. No!  Absolutely not!  We apologize if you got that impression in the past, but today nothing could be further from the truth.  Lambda members are diverse in age as well as background, ethnicity, and identity.  Every Lambda gathering is a wild variety of cars, ranging from cars, trucks, and motorcycles over 100 years old to brand new vehicles and everything in between.  We think the wacky variety of vehicles makes our club more fun and enjoyable!

Q. I don’t own a car or my only vehicle is just an average daily driver.  Can I join Lambda?

A. Yes, you’re welcome to join even if you don’t own a vehicle or if you don’t think your vehicle is special in any way.  The only thing you need is a passion and enthusiasm for motor vehicles.  We have quite a few members that either don’t own a car, or don’t own a specialty vehicle for any number of reasons.

Q. I love cars, trucks, and/or motorcycles, but I’m not mechanically inclined.  What will Lambda members think of me?

A. Lambda members truly run the gamut when it comes to automotive mechanical and technical knowledge and expertise.  Some of our members are amazing fountains of obscure knowledge and can fix just about anything.  Some of our members only know how to check their oil and washer fluid.  Many of our members are somewhere in between.  If you’re interested to learn more about motor vehicles, you will certainly be able to meet folks who are happy to share their knowledge.  Or, if vehicle mechanics and technology are not your area of interest, that’s OK too.

Q. I spotted a post or comment on your social media group/page that was inappropriate and/or made me uncomfortable.  What should I do?

A.  Please report the post to the group admins/moderator or contact our Director of Communications directly HERE.  Our social media admins/moderators screen new group members and do their best to monitor activity for compliance with our social media policies, but they are just volunteers with day jobs and other commitments.  If you see something inappropriate including sexually explicit material, unauthorized advertising/self-promotion, harassment, etc., do not hesitate to report it.
